PROFESSIONAL

SKILL SET

I’m Alaina, a creative communications strategist, accredited coach, and committed feminist with over 12 years’ experience.

Through my work, I:

  • Build campaigns to make the world a better place for women, girls and non-binary people.

  • Facilitate groups that want to centre gender equality in their work.

  • Coach individuals who want to live and work in a more equitable and fulfilling way.

Others have described me as a:

  • Problem solver

  • Strategic shaper

  • Empathetic facilitator

  • Force of positivity

  • Doer, not just a talker

PROFESSIONAL

EXPERIENCE

Before opening my own consultancy, I was Global Head of Strategy at Purpose, a social impact agency that uses public mobilisation and storytelling to move people to create change.

Prior to Purpose, I spent 10 years in advertising at AMV BBDO and BBDO New York, working with brands and charities to create compelling campaigns for their businesses and for important social issues.

Through that work, I helped to transform the way the world views periods and women’s health with Libresse/Bodyform, and demonstrated how free play can be a tool for developing young girls' imaginations and self-esteem with Barbie.

Awards:

  • Women in Advertising and Communication Leadership (WACL) Future Leader Award in 2019

  • APG Grand Prix for Barbie in 2017

PERSONAL

PASTIMES

Outside of work, I have been involved in women's rights for a number of years, most recently as co-chair of trustees for Power of Women Thanet, and previously with the Women's Equality Party in Southwark.

Hailing from the US originally, I have spent much of my adult life bouncing between the US and the UK and am proud to call both home. I moved to the Kentish seaside in 2020 with my husband James and our beloved cat Gloria, where I enjoy sea swims, nail art, punk shows, and community activism.
